Picture this—the year is 2020. I’ve just moved out of my parents’ home for the very first time with my boyfriend and best friend. Along with the rest of the world I discover a global pandemic has struck. My job as a healthcare worker evolves from stressful to fear-inducing as we try to navigate this widespread deadly virus. Having nowhere to go aside from the hospital where I work and the grocery to wrestle for toilet paper, I rediscover my love of reading, getting lost in fantasy realms and far away destinations. I find friends in characters tucked between pages and obsess over lovesick protagonists. The world seems a little less scary with my fictional family. I just wish I had real people I could share my love of reading with…
Vaccines are finally available, but the world is still heavily affected by the pandemic. Still unable to connect with others over my reading obsession (it’s not a problem I swear), I decide to share my thoughts on my favorite books on TikTok. Before I know it, my first video is going viral. Then another. And another!
I build friendships with authors, readers, narrators, and everyone in between. I’m asked to help promote new releases and even moderate panels for some of my favorite authors including Brynne Weaver, Alex Aster, and even Marissa Meyer.
With my boyfriend getting upgraded to husband, our tiny apartment traded out for a proper home outside of Philadelphia, and a part-time job as bookish content creator, I’m ready to embrace my next big journey as a published author.
